ChessPalace Youth Private Lesson
ChessPalace offers junior private lessons from instructors with ratings of 1400 up to grandmasters with ratings of 2500 and up.
Lessons from basic instructors involve tactics- and strategy-building, analysis of games, openings, middlegames, and endgames. Such classes can provide one-on-one instructions with the instructor's undivided attention. Scheduling is flexible.
The instructor prepares materials from books or softwares and can assign homework for the student's benefits. Tournaments are suggested for students to yield the best result in terms of rating-gain or prizes. Coaches will usually be available in tournaments to give advice and game analysis. In addition, a few students are chosen in the fall to compete in the U.S. Amateur Team Tournament in February where they will receive a two-hour instruction twice a month until the tournament date.
Benefits
In addition to attitude, academic and chess excellence, twice a month, Action Quad is free for all ChessPalace students. It is a rated event with three rounds, so a USCF membership is required. This will give students the opportunity to experience tournament play and settings and become acquainted with the rules and environment. As for additional tournament practice, private students are also eligible for free entry to the Amateur Open, held on a Sunday near the end of every month.
