Tournament Details & Registration

Here are tournament details. You can also register online with Paypal or a credit card. Online registration allows you to show up right at the start of round one to avoid the on-site registration crowd. Participant must qualify to register as ChessPalace member, must be ready to show member ID on site. Check the calendar for tournament dates. USCF-rated events require USCF membership.

Regular Club Events

6-Pak

Three-round swiss USCF-rated tournament grouped with 6 players based on ratings. Held on the first Saturday of every month.
Round times:11:30am, 3:30pm, & 7:30pm.
Entry Fee:$15 for club members; $22 regular.
Prizes:1st $50; 2nd $20 ChessPalace gift certificate for every group.
Time Control: 30 moves in 90 minutes, sudden death 30 minutes

Action Quad

Three-round USCF-rated tournament on the second and fourth Fridays of the month starting at 6:30pm.
Entry Fee:$7 for club members; $13 regular. FREE for ChessPalace students.
Prizes:1st $20 (each quad) if non-juniors; 1st medal (each quad) with juniors
Time Control: Game in 30 minutes

Amateur Open

Four-round tournament with two sections U2200 USCF-rated and U1500 non-USCF-rated, if enough players. Held on Sundays near the end of every month. Round 1 starts at 12:30pm
Entry Fee:$15 for club members; $20 regular.
Prizes:1st $70 (based on 10 paid entries); 2nd, sectional and booster prizes include cash, ChessPalace gift certificate, books, merchandise, or free-entry
Time Control: Game in 45 minutes

Handicap Blitz

Five-round, two games each, one game white one game black. Handicap format with time odds for every 200 rating point difference. Non-USCF-rated. ChessPalace blitz rating used. Held every first, third and fifth Friday of the month.
Entry Fee:$5 for club members; $8 regular.
Prizes:1st $40; 2nd $15 ChessPalace gift certificate (based on 15 paid entries)
Time Control: Game in 5 minutes

Monthly Open: Wednesday Knights

USCF-rated tournament held every Wednesday night at 7pm. One round per week totaling to four or five rounds per month (tournament).
Entry Fee:$12 for club members; $17 regular.
Prizes:1st $100; Sectional prize $25 ChessPalace gift certificate (based on 15 fully paid entries, else proportional).
Time Control: 30 moves in 60 minutes, sudden death 60 minutes.

Ocho

Three-round swiss USCF-rated tournament grouped with 8 players based on ratings. Held on the fourth and fifth Saturday of every month.
Round times:11:30am, 3:30pm, & 7:30pm.
Entry Fee:$15 for club members; $22 regular.
Prizes:1st $70; 2nd $25 ChessPalace gift certificate for every group.
Time Control: 30 moves in 90 minutes, sudden death 30 minutes

Octos

Three-round swiss USCF-rated tournament grouped with 8 players based on ratings. Held on the third Saturday of January, March, May, July, September, and November.
Round times:11:30am, 3:30pm, & 7:30pm.
Entry Fee:$30 for club members; $35 regular.
Prizes:1st $80; 2nd $50; 3rd $30; 4th choice of any chess dvd for every group.
Time Control: 30 moves in 90 minutes, sudden death 30 minutes

Super 2x Quad

Four-round tournament. USCF-rated. First 3 rounds is quad format and last round swiss pairing (grouping 2-3 quads)
Entry Fee:$30 for club members; $35 regular
Prizes:Guaranteed based on points: 4 points, $100; 3.5 points, $65; 3 points $45; 2.5 points, free entry to regular club event.
Time Control: Game in 60 minutes for the first 3 rounds, Game in 75 for the last round

Quad

Three-round robin USCF-rated tournament grouped with 4 players based on ratings. Held on the third Saturday of February, April, June, August, October, and December
Round times:11:30am, 3:30pm, & 7:30pm.
Entry Fee:$15 for club members; $22 regular.
Prizes:1st $70; 2nd $25 ChessPalace gift certificate for every group.
