The ChessPalace15th Anniversary Invitational celebration took place on Saturday, October 29, 2005. Thirty-seven players including long-time patrons, newcomers, kids, aduls, novice, and masters participated in this fun-filled, wonderful event.

A very strong field topped the Open Section with 26 players. Prize winners included brothers Jake Banawa and Joel Banawa, tying for first place; followed by Vaughn Heussenstamm in the U2100 section; Pirouz Hendi and Anand Kesaravaju for the U1900; and Shawn Williams for the U1700 section.

In the Premier (U1600) Section, a strong field of junior stars took home the top awards. Clear first went to eight-year-old Eric Zhang, followed by ten-year-old Cheston Gunawan! These amazing performances of rising junior stars have become frequent occurrences at the ChessPalace that the club has acquired the reputation as the breeding ground for the next champion! Other prize winners included Charles Adams, Carmen Childress, 6th-grader Luis Evaristo, and 6-year old Kyle Huang.

Congratulations to Joel Banawa who won the special raffle prize donated by Chris Alarcon and also to Charles Adams for winning the suprised raffle of the new Chronos Blitz clock!

Thanks to all those participated and everyone who helped with the behind-the-scenes operations. The club would also like to extend special thanks to two patrons, who wish to remain anonymous, for contributing to the event.
