The ChessPalace Amateur Open # 2 was held on September 25, 2005 Sunday. Thirty players participated in the Open and Booster Sections. The innovative formats of the event such as the availability for new and novice players to play in the Booster section continue to attract a variety of players of different age, skill level, and experience. The Booster Section was established to enable inexperienced players to gain invaluable over-the-board experience in an casual yet tournament atmosphere.

Topping the Open Section with a perfect 4-0 score was newcomer Ricardo Rodriguez, who recently immigrated to the country from Mexico. Following him at second place was Tan Tran with 3.5/4. Steven Porta, "Eren Karadayi", Carmen Childress, and Brent Legaspi took home the class prizes.

In the Booster Section, seven year old Anderson Ju finished with a perfect 4-0 to clinch first place. Following him were Theresa Lo, Zakary Dossi, and Christina Kao in a three-way tie for 2nd place. The special prize for the best-scorer for the "First-Time Tournament Player" award went to Carlos Cordova.

The lucky raffle winners of the day were Arthur Dzhermakyan and Peter Joseph, who won the raffle prize of two Dodger's ticket. The tickets were donated by Jimmy Yu. Thanks Jimmy for adding to the fanfare of the event!
