Phillips, Ong, and Henri best their group

Twenty players played in the 6-Pak on October 2. Three groups, two composed of six and one composed of eight made up the event. Jeff Phillips won the top group with the only perfect score of the day outplaying Anthony Mack, David Portwood, and Neil Bershad. An upset came in the first round when Qinhong Chen, the only junior in the group, capitalized on a tactical error by Bershad. Aaron Ong finished with 2.5-0.5 in the second group and Richard Henri in the third group with the same score.

Bershad bounced back with this victory against Anthony Mack.

In round 2, quick opening attacks proved fatal from Joseph Bellinger and Craig Hilby. Hilby's game against Richard Nellum is this week's Game of the Week which includes a queen sacrifice offer.

Both kings are unattended, but white's forces around the black king proved overwhelming.
